Kevin and his wife LaDawn act as the owner/operator of Rau Construction. They met and were married while serving in the Army. After military service, Kevin began his work in construction as a journey carpenter for Absolute Construction, owned by his father-in-law Frank Mester. While working for Absolute Construction, Kevin learned how to build and manage a wide range of projects from the ground up. He learned how to do everything from simple repairs and remodels to custom additions and new homes. The goal was to learn every aspect of construction so Kevin could do the work on any project from start to finish. In 2004, they opened Rau Construction for business.

Kevin Rau of Rau Construction is a first class outfit and has excellence as their motto. I am the pastor of Bethel Baptist Church and he is the only contractor that we use for our building projects. We have taken other bids and sometimes he is the lowest and there are times he is not, but the quality is priceless so we have always used him.
I have also used Rau Construction on my personal projects at my house. The quality and service is always to the highest standards. You will not be disappointed with his work. Rau Construction did three separate projects for us. The first was constructing a garden shed that looked like a miniature version of our house, cedar siding, painted the same color as the house with the same color trim, same roof materials and even a window complete with screen and door that matched our front door. It gave us storage for our lawn mower, rototiller, pressure washer, small garden tools and equipment and other garden needs. The second project was finishing the lower level in our split level. It had a roughed in family room, and Kevin insulated it, added much needed ceiling lights, wood laminate flooring and installed a French door to increase the amount of natural light from the hallway, while giving us some sound proofing when my husband was practicing his guitar. The room was so well done that the temperature was nice and warm in the winter and comfortably cool in the summer. The third and biggest project was replacing our large cedar deck at the back of the house, replacing the front porch and steps which included bringing the railings up to code. He cleaned our attic of some mold, added additional vents to keep it dry, replaced plumbing fixtures and replaced the flooring throughout the upper level. As a result of the excellent, high quality work done, when we eventually put the house up for sale we got a full price offer four days after it was listed. Kevin and his crew were always professional and on time. We highly recommend Rau Construction for any job, big or small.

Rau construction did a great job repairing a leak in our shower. They also repaired the surrounding drywall damaged because of the leak. You can’t even tell the wall was cut open and then covered. Work areas were also kept spotless during the repair. Thank you Rau Construction!

We had Kevin remove and replace an external deck on the back of our home. The prior deck was traditional wood construction and afforded us about 200 sqft of outdoor space. Now we have 400 sqft of beautiful Trex Decking that requires minimal annual maintenance.
Kevin was very good about keeping the job site clean (very important on remodel where we are living on site). He communicated often and with clarity. We were always aware of the project schedule and our next steps. If a decision was needed by us we were given lead time and not made to feel as if we had to decide on the spot or risk delaying the project.

Met Kevin and LaDawn about 9 years ago. Had a few minor tasks that Kevin addressed, fixed and did not cost me an arm and a leg. Since the first work, he has built an extension to my house, did some roofing and painted the exterior last year. Always prompt, cheerful and professional. He has become my go to guy. I think that his rates are lower than his competitors.
